Discover the Behringer UB-1 Micro: Big Sound at a Tiny Price

Inspired by the Legendary Oberheim Matrix

Behringer has a storied history of revamping classic synthesizers and delivering them to the market at much lower prices. The latest addition to their lineup might be the most cost-effective yet. Introducing the UB-1 Micro, a compact analog synthesizer inspired by the renowned Oberheim Matrix series, available for an astonishing $49.

Despite its modest price, the UB-1 Micro packs an impressive punch. It comes equipped with two digitally controlled oscillators (DCOs) derived from the analog architecture of the Oberheim Matrix 6 chip. The synth offers monophonic and duophonic modes, and includes two low-frequency oscillators (LFOs) for modulating filters and pitch, alongside an arpeggiator complete with three pattern options and a sustain feature.

Features That Defy Its Size

The UB-1 Micro includes 32 pre-installed sound settings, and these can be expanded by utilizing Behringer’s SynthTribe software. It features 16 touch-responsive keys, six operational buttons, and an OLED screen for parameter adjustments. For device compatibility, the synthesizer offers a USB-C connection that supports both USB and MIDI integration, making it simple to interface with computers and mobile devices.

Part of a Broader Miniature Synth Movement

This innovative tiny model is just another example of Behringer’s efforts in synthesizer miniaturization. The UB-Xa Mini pays homage to another Oberheim classic while shifting to a more portable version of Behringer’s larger UB-Xa synthesizer. Additionally, the JT Mini replicates a classic Roland Jupiter synth, and the Phara-o Mini primarily draws inspiration from the Korg Volca Keys lineup.
