Amazon Removes Faulty AI-Powered Video Recaps
Errors in AI Recaps Lead to Their Withdrawal
Amazon has decided to discontinue its AI-generated season recaps on Prime Video after users identified inaccuracies in the recaps, particularly one for the show 'Fallout' that included incorrect details about the storyline and setting.
Originally introduced in November, these Video Recaps were meant to offer a quick way for viewers to catch up before starting a new season. However, the inaccuracies have led Amazon to remove all these recaps from its streaming platform.
Access Before Removal
Previously, viewers could access these recaps through the 'Extras' section on the web or via a specified 'recap button' on a show's page. Following the removal, the 'Fallout' season two page, among others, no longer hosts any video recaps.
These changes affect all shows Amazon was experimenting with, including titles like 'Bosch,' 'Upload,' 'The Rig,' and 'Tom Clancy's Jack Ryan.'
Awaiting More Information
Engadget has reached out to Amazon for further clarification on the decision to retract these AI-generated recaps. Any updates from Amazon will be added as they become available.
AI Integration Efforts by Amazon
These Video Recaps are a part of Amazon's broader strategy to incorporate artificial intelligence across its services. Previously, Amazon also experimented with AI-generated English dubs for select anime series. However, they retracted the dubs following customer feedback. Additionally, AI is employed to create synopses for extensive book series available through the Kindle Store.
