Google Introduces Gemini Features on iOS Chrome
Users of iPhones and iPads now have the opportunity to experience the basic artificial intelligence capabilities of Chrome's browser.
The Gemini AI tools, formerly integrated into the desktop version of Chrome, are now progressively being introduced to Apple's iOS devices. This latest development adds more functionality to Chrome, as highlighted by recent reports from sources like 9to5Google and Engadget.
Exclusive New Features
When your iOS Chrome browser incorporates the fresh Gemini features, a novel icon will emerge in the left side of your address bar. This icon, which replaces the previous Google Lens icon, resembles a sheet of paper adorned with the Gemini star emblem.
Clicking this icon grants you the ability to interrogate Gemini about the content on your screen or request a quick summary of the webpage you are browsing.
Limitations and Usage
Although this feature adds convenience, it is still not as expansive as the capabilities you'd find on a dedicated Gemini webpage or app. However, it can be quite handy for quick inquiries directly on the page.
To utilize this functionality, ensure you are logged into the iOS Chrome and know that it does not function in Incognito mode. Also, as of now, it supports only the English language.
Activation Process
If the Google Lens icon is still visible on your browser bar, try updating Chrome through the App Store. The Gemini icon may not appear immediately for all users since the deployment is occurring incrementally and is expected to become universally available over time.
