Liquid Swords Unveils 'Samson: A Tyndalston Story' as Its First Noir Action Game

Announced at today's PC Gaming Show, Liquid Swords is set to deliver its first game, 'Samson: A Tyndalston Story,' in early 2026. Promoted as a 'consequence-heavy noir action game,' the narrative revolves around Samson McCray, a man submerged in debt within an unforgiving metropolis.

A Glimpse into the Dark World

While the initial trailer is sparing in narrative details, the intense, gritty vibes are reminiscent of classic noir action titles. The combat appears intense and raw, encapsulating the essence of a bleak, tension-filled experience. Liquid Swords emphasizes that every decision comes with a price as they describe in their press release: 'Each day brings a new cost, and as debt compounds, time conspires against you. Every undertaking consumes a finite reserve of Action Points, influencing how the city reacts to your choices—there's no second chance. Progression is imperative because inaction only exacerbates your plight.'

A Legacy of Expertise in Game Development

Liquid Swords, founded by Christopher Sundberg in 2020, carries the legacy of its founder’s past work, such as the famed Just Cause franchise developed during his tenure at Avalanche Studios. The team is enriched with talents from projects like Mad Max and the Battlefield series, pooling their considerable expertise in combat mechanics, systemic design, and dynamic storytelling to craft 'Samson: A Tyndalston Story.'

A New Direction in Game Design

In contrast to the open-world nature of Just Cause, 'Samson' appears to promise a more concentrated gaming experience, hinted by its $25 price point. Earlier this year, Liquid Swords faced a challenge as it had to downsize the team to safeguard its long-term viability amidst difficult industry climates. This consequential title is expected to be available from 2026 on platforms including Steam and the Epic Games Store. However, a console release remains unconfirmed at this point.
